Drought restrictions remain in place despite the wettest April on record .
Water-use restrictions were introduced by Veolia Water Central from 5 April 2012. Using around 1,000 litres of water an hour, restricting the use of a hosepipe is one of the most effective ways to conserve water.

The "new" traffic lights at the junction of Green Lane, Eastbury Road and Station Approach have generated much discussion and much adverse comment. In 2011 Hillingdon Borough Council commissioned an independent report into the scheme, which was undertaken by a firm of consultants, Steer Davies Gleave. The report has now been completed and published.
The Northwood Residents' Association considers that the report is disappointing and the recommendations do not go far enough. Studies took place between 0800 and 0900 and between 1700 and 1800, ignoring the period between 1530 and 1700 when some of the worst school-related congestion takes place. It can only be hoped that the limited improvements that have been suggested will make the junction work more smoothly, particularly in conjunction with the mini-roundabout at Maxwell Road.

On 16th November Northwood Residents 'Association presented a petition to London Borough of Hillingdon (LBH) signed by a significant number of retailers in Northwood protesting against the large increase in parking charges for non-HillingdonFirst cardholders. Retailers are concerned that the severe increase in the hourly parking rate for those Northwood residents and others who live outside Hillingdon is affecting their businesses.
The outcome of the hearing was that, although LBH expressed sympathy for the problem, it was reaffirmed that the current differential parking rates will remain unchanged. However LBH has agreed to meet the petitioners to discuss their concerns.
In addition, council officers have been instructed to break down the statistics about HillingdonFirst card use, so that a comparison can be made between the number of HillingdonFirst cardholders and non-residents that are using the machines. This would show if there has been a drop in the number of non-HillingdonFirst cardholders using them and would also show use of the initial free half-hour period which is available to all.

You can now buy corn starch bags to line your kitchen caddy, making the business of storing food waste and transferring it to the brown bin easier and cleaner.
Until now,the composting site has been reluctant to accept corn starch bags, but it has now been agreed that bags of a certain type, issued by the Council, can be used. So please only use these. Of course you can still put your food waste directly into the brown bin, wrap it in newspaper or put it in an old cardboard carton if you prefer.
Please do not use plastic bags, whether they are bio-degradable or not. Council supplied caddy bags can be purchased from various locations across the district at £2.50 for a roll of 52. The nearest suppliers to Eastbury are:-
Three Rivers House, Northway, Rickmansworth
Moor Park Post Office, 8 Main Parade, Moor Park
Watford Rural Parish Council, Oxhey Drive, South Oxhey
If in doubt, leave it out
Contamination of waste occurs when non-compostable items are placed in the brown bin. Please take extra care with the waste you put in your brown bin. Visit http://www.threerivers.gov.uk/Default.aspx/Web/BrownBins to find out more about what can be recycled at the kerbside.

Some residents like having a bonfire but they can be irritating to neighbours. Smoke prevents your neighbours from enjoying their gardens, opening windows and hanging out washing. If you do light the occasional bonfire try to not chose a damp day when smoke will hang in the air or a very windy day when smoke may be carried over neighbouring properties, lines of washing or when windows may be open.

Noise can upset our neighbourhood harmony , particularly when it comes at the wrong time and interferes with our daily living. Please be 'noise aware'.
Building work at properties must only be carried out during the hours of 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am - 1pm on Saturdays.
Noisy work such as mowing the lawn or blowing leaves or garden debris should also be done considerately. Please ensure your gardeners do not carry out this type of work before 9am at the week-end. Some of us like to enjoy an extra hour or two in bed!

Wheelie bins,we either love them or hate them !
Burglars love them because they provide a pretty good idea if you are at home on 'bin'day. If your wheelie bin is still out long after the refuse collection has been and gone, then the chances are,you are out. Nobody has invented the self-return wheelie bin yet so how about becoming a 'Bin Buddy'.
